Burn Fat By Adding Butter To Your Coffee?
From www.redorbit.com –
Bulletproof Coffee – with Brain Octane C8 MCT Oil and grass-fed butter blended in – gives you a complete lack of hunger and food cravings for hours, all day energy and sharp focus, without the crash and jitters typically associated with a cheap cup of coffee.
It promotes all day energy boosting and fat burning as well, by helping your body be in ketosis when following the Bulletproof Intermittent Fasting protocol.
Putting butter in hot drinks is a several thousand-year-old practice I learned while traveling at high elevation in Tibet.
Bulletproof Coffee takes this practice to a new level by blending together coffee made from low toxin coffee beans with grass-fed butter and Brain Octane, which is coconut oil extract 18 times stronger than coconut oil.
By providing your body with satiating fat from butter, and a special kind of energy from fat comes from Brain Octane, instead of sugar and carbs, you are helping your body to use ketones (fat burning) for energy throughout the day.
Editor’s Note: This was a very interesting article in regards to the different styles and methods of intermittent fasting out there. In fact, in my years of doing IF, I’ve never heard of the Bulletproof Fasting method. All in all, it’s the same intermittent fasting principles, but what’s different is that you drink a cup of butter-laced Bulletproof Coffee in the morning. Sounds weird huh? But it may have some merit.
The Bulletproof fasting guys claim that the healthy fats from grass-fed butter and MCT oil that they sell give you a stable stream of energy that keeps you going better than normal coffee. They claim that the ultra-low toxin coffee beans optimize your brain function and fat burning capabilities with high-power caffeine. The MCT oil in the coffee is said to increase your ketone production and boost your metabolic rate up to 12%.
I have to agree that butter does satiate, so I can understand the theory behind using a bit of butter in America’s favorite beverage to help keep satiated while not spiking insulin with carbs. They claim that the intermittent fasting coffee is so filling, that some folks drink it in the morning and didn’t feel like eating until mid afternoon. That’s cool and all, but I don’t feel like eating til the afternoon and I consume zero calories, so I’m not gonna give the coffee credit for that.
Finally, they claim that Bulletproof Coffee on an empty stomach helps put you and keep you in a state of fat-burning ketosis and increases mental focus.
I don’t know what to think about this, it kind of sounds like they are crediting some of the benefits of intermittent fasting to their coffee, but hey, some people looooove coffee and this may be a way to effectively add it to your intermittent fasting protocol. Either way, I don’t drink coffee, so I won’t be able to tell you for sure. Here are our article highlights:
- You can enter ketosis by eating low carbs with moderate protein and high healthy fats, but it’s not always easy to do.
- Putting butter in hot beverages is an ancient practice.
- In one clinical study, adding 2 tablespoons of medium-chain triglyceride oils (C8) to the diets of healthy young men caused 9 percent of their brain metabolism being powered by ketones, even while consuming carbs.
