3 Killer Cardio Drills For Major Fat-Burning
Are you just plain ol’ sick and tired of normal cardio? I’ve been there myself.
Doing the same crap day in and day out can get old, even if it’s good for you and helping you get lean.
Hey sometimes you need to change things up to keep your workouts interesting. No problem, cardio drills are a great way to add some zest to your workouts and stay on track, they are way more interesting than pounding away day after day on the same treadmill like an overgrown hamster.
When you really think about it, the human body is for too advanced and complex for only running on a conveyor-belt or continuous one-dimensional movement. So I suggest that you go crazy with one of my sweat-inducing, heart pumping, fun cardio drills below.
Or better yet, attempt all three if you’re a true workout warrior. You will smash fat and improve your fitness in no time. And the best part: You won’t need to find ways to avoid boredom during these cardio drill workouts–you’ll be too busy getting in amazing shape.
10-Meter Sprints Drill
Find an area in your fitness center where you are able to sprint for 10 meters.
Once you’ve covered the 10-meter distance as fast as you can, pause just long enough to inhale and exhale through your nose once. Sprint back and pause, this time inhaling and exhaling twice through your nose.
Continue the drill–breathing generally as you sprint, and adding an added nose inhalation and exhalation when you pause– until you can no longer breathe through only your nose. Why? Well, it requires more effort than breathing through your mouth–even during rest–which raises the intensity of the exercise.
The result: more intense work in less time (and distance) than on a treadmill.
Jumping-Jack Pyramid Drill
OK, so if your read my jumping jack cardio article, you know I’m a huge fan of this underrated exercise. So here’s how you nail this amazing cardio drill…
Do as many jumping jacks as you can in 10 seconds. Rest for an equivalent period of time. Next, do as many jumping jacks as you can in 20 seconds, and rest 20 seconds. Subsequently do 30 seconds of jumping jacks and I’m sure you can figure out how much rest to take right? Right! 30 seconds.
Now work your way back down the pyramid (30, 20, 10). Repeat this cycle three times. This will change the way you look at jumping jacks for the rest of your life!
The “55 Stay Alive” Cardio Drill
I saved the best for last. This is a true butt-kicker of a workout.
To do the “55 Stay Alive” drill start with doing one bodyweight squat and 10 pushups. Rest for 30 seconds, and then do 9 pushups and 2 squats.
Gradually work your way up to 10 squats and down to 1 pushup.
You will complete 55 repetitions of each exercise by the time you’re done–and reap the cardiovascular advantage of aerobic training for your heart health and fat loss and you’ll get the bonus of strengthening your muscles as well. If you really wanna kick things up a notch you can try fasted cardio to boost your fat loss and even give you more energy than ever expected.
These cardio drills are evrything you need to take your fitness to the next level. There is never an excuse for doing some boring and mundane garbage in the name of fitness.
